# Changesets [#changesets]

Use this page when your contribution changes package-facing behaviour,
exports, public schemas, package READMEs or runtime contracts.

## When you need a Changeset [#when-you-need-a-changeset]

Add or update a Changeset when you change:

* public package exports
* SDK helper behaviour or types
* HTTP API contract behaviour
* calculator request or response schemas
* package README behaviour
* rule package behaviour that affects published calculation output

Run:

```sh
bun run changeset
```

Then check the pending release state:

```sh
bun run changeset status --verbose
```

Do not run `bun run version-repo` unless you are intentionally applying the
pending release train.

## When a Changeset is not required [#when-a-changeset-is-not-required]

Docs-only changes inside `packages/docs-content/content`, navigation updates and active
exec-plan validation notes do not need a Changeset when they do not change
package exports, package README behaviour or runtime behaviour.

State the no-Changeset rationale in your PR and handoff.
